In our latest podcast episode, I sat down with Alice Canada, Executive Director of the Carlton Landing Foundation, to talk about the heart behind this annual event and why it has become such a meaningful tradition.


What is Wellness Weekend?

Wellness Weekend is designed to support whole-person wellness. While many wellness events focus only on fitness or relaxation, Carlton Landing takes a broader view, weaving together:

  • Mind – classes on personal healing, Ayurveda, and creative arts
  • Body – yoga, Thai bodywork, and the annual 5K run
  • Spirit – Bible journaling & the importance of reading
  • Community – workshops on beekeeping, sustainable food, and creative connections

The result is a weekend that feels restorative, inspiring, and approachable — a chance to step away from the busyness of life and reconnect with what matters most.

Simple and Flexible by Design

One of the things that makes Wellness Weekend unique is its flexibility. There’s no need to pre-plan every detail or commit weeks in advance. You can:

  • Stop by the Friday night “Make & Take Meet & Greet” to browse pop-up shops, meet instructors, and ease into the weekend.
  • Wander through classes and workshops on Saturday — most are free or low cost, and many are family-friendly.
  • Decide last minute to join in; even walk-up participants are welcome for nearly every activity.

As Alice puts it, “It’s as structured or organic as you’d like it to be.”

Highlights of 2025

This year’s Wellness Weekend will be held September 26–27, 2025. A few highlights include:

  • The 5K, 2-mile, and 1-mile runs supporting Carlton Landing Academy
  • Hands-on workshops like ceramics, basket weaving, and grain milling
  • Health-focused vendors including ozone IV therapy and gut-healthy food demonstrations
  • Family-friendly learning with the bee exhibit and hive demonstrations
  • The always-popular pop-up shops, open Saturday from 10 AM–2 PM with a wellness-focused lineup of vendors
